Hello BCYD! I am so excited to take on this new role as Kids, Preteens and Families Director. A few things you should know about me…I’ve been married to Mark for 30 years, and we served in the Western Ontario District for over two decades but have been in the west coast at Christian Life Assembly for the past six years. We have four adult children, Samuel, Abigail, Moriah and Julia. Our daughter Abi and son-in-law Garrett had a baby girl, Charlotte Mercy Markham, in December, making us grandparents for the first time! What a newfound joy!
Mark and I have spent most of our ministry life pouring into the next generation and raising up young leaders, including the four young leaders in our own home. We also have loved every minute of doing ministry alongside our children. It is truly our heartbeat to invest in leaders, so this new position is such an honour for me to fulfill.
For the last six years I have had the privilege of overseeing Children’s and Family ministry for all three of CLA’s campuses, which has given me some insight into the advantages and challenges of a large church, a medium-sized church and a small church. It is my desire in the next year to get to know you, to listen to you and the successes and challenges you are experiencing in your life and ministry context. I would love to hear from you or meet you in person; children’s or pre-teen pastor, lead pastor, lay leader, Summit student! And if I don’t hear from you, you might just hear from me!
In the last few days, I have been on vacation travelling to the Kootenays and a couple days in the Okanagan. The natural beauty and resources of B.C. are incredible, but our best natural resource is the next generation. We have the privilege and responsibility of raising them up to lead in our communities, churches, cities and nation. My question to you is simply…how can I help?
