Missions

Flourishing Missions

International missions have always been the heartbeat of the PAOC, and the BC & Yukon District is committed to encouraging BCYD churches to participate in the ministry of our global workers. This includes financial support but also involves providing prayer covering and personal care for workers on the field and at home.

We believe that every church, regardless of size and location, can participate in the work of sharing the Gospel around the world. But sometimes churches need some help developing their missions strategy and overcoming the barriers to a flourishing missions focus in their local assembly. This tool has been developed to help churches address these common obstacles and establish their missions focus.

PAOC international Missions

At least 350 workers serve in 70 countries, spanning Africa, Eurasia, Latin America and Southeast Asia. 20 percent of our workers serve in Restricted Access Nations or in places closed to the open preaching of the gospel. Another 20 percent work in the 10/40 window. The 10/40 Window is the area of our globe that spans from 10 degrees to 40 degrees North of the equator. The region stretches from North Africa across to China and is home to the largest population of non-Christians in the world. Priority is given to the 3.1 billion who have never heard the good news, to the poor and marginalized—particularly children—and to multiplying our impact through the training of national leaders. More than 3,000 students in affiliated Bible colleges and 15,000 students in extension programs are being trained to be the next generation of leaders that will make a lasting impact on their nations.

ERDO

The Emergency Relief and Development Organization (ERDO) is the humanitarian agency of the PAOC, responding to crises around the world and at home by providing emergency relief and rehabilitation programs. ERDO currently works in over 30 countries with programs spanning from immediate aid to long-term development. Today over 8,200 children are sponsored, clean water flows in thirsty communities, microfinance loans assist women with small businesses, and nutritious food sources are strengthening children. All of the work done through PAOC Global Workers and program partners has the opportunity to present the Gospel lived out in word and deed.

CHILDCARE PLUS

Childcare Plus provides care and support for children in impoverished areas around the world. More than 15 ministry centres with children’s homes provide refuge for young lives and there are water well projects in six countries. Over 8,000 children are currently sponsored.

MISSION CANADA

Mission Canada workers are national missionaries with a heart to reach fellow Canadians, specifically in contexts where there is a gap: campuses, people groups, regions and communities where Jesus is inadequately represented.

Global Workers

These Global Workers call BCYD their home district. Consider keeping them in your prayers or supporting them monetarily.
